Thank you Chik, although I should have been out when my 66 improved against your JJ -

I'd already got my coat and was almost out the door when the 6 hit!

Well played

Lee

TheShark72 June 9th, 2008 09:14

Well played everyone...sorry I couldnt make last nights game, but will be back in the Ladbrokes fishy ocean snapping at your legs again next Sunday evening as usual.

No surprise to see TheCaptain prevail (no disrespect to anyone else of course!) - well done mate!!

Tony, is there scope to have a league table running alongside the weekly performances so we can see who over the course of say 8/10 weeks performs the best overall??? I will do this if you like...?

Thinking we award points for finishing places, bonus points for finishing in top 3 - weekly cash payouts stay the same of course, maybe see if theres some way we can award the overall league winner? This would maybe incentivise people to play on a more regular basis???

Just a thought....

Tony2005 June 9th, 2008 13:29

Thanks Shark....

Sounds like a very good idea.....but i think the fairest way of a league table etc...would be to start again so everyones on a level playing field.

It would be great if you could give me some of your thoughts on the best way to do this...

Thanks..

TheShark72 June 9th, 2008 14:22

Will do Tony - will have a think and post on here later today or tomorrow morning.

Tony2005 June 9th, 2008 14:32

ok Sharky nice one.....

TheShark72 June 10th, 2008 09:59

Ok...Here Goes

OK, hows about the following :-

We play a private MTT game every Sunday evening, exactly the same as we are doing now.

Players are free to play any time they wish - they are not committed to playing every week, but will obviously give themself more chance of succeeding in the league format the more they play.

TalkSport Poker League to run over a 10 week period, using the weekly Sunday games, from any given Sunday (22 June onwards?).

League points are scored according to your finishing weekly position - 10 points per place, with bonus points being gained for finishing in the top three - 3rd place gains 25 bonus points, 2nd place gains 50 bonus points, winner of the event gains 100 bonus points. So in a ten runner game the following points would be available :

10th - 10 points
9th - 20
8th - 30
7th - 40
6th - 50
5th - 60
4th - 70
3rd - 80 + 25 = 105
2nd - 90 + 50 = 140
1st - 100 + 100 = 200

In a 6 game event, it would be :

6th - 10
5th - 20
4th - 30
3rd - 65
2nd - 100
1st - 160

Basically it doesnt matter how many people play per week - first out scores ten points, and then ten point increments to top 3 - obviously the more people that play the more points on offer - but thats right, as its harder to win.

Cumulative league system - calculated and published on forum ASAP by TheShark72 after completion of weekly event as follows :

EXAMPLE after Week 4

POSITION PLAYER GAMES WEEKLY TOTAL
NAME PLAYED POINTS POINTS AVERAGE

1 THE CAPTAIN 4 200 640 160
2 BENNY THE DIP 3 60 580 193.33
3 TONY 4 120 580 145
4 CHIKADEE 4 20 550 137.5

(Looks like i'll have to find a way to properly format a league table for the forum!)

Average is used solely to decide tied places - if that is tied, it will be who has most 1st places, then 2nd places, and so on.

Overall highest points winner at the end of the ten weeks declared the Talksport Poker League Winner

Game 1 will be a usual format game ($5 rebuy etc) - propose though that each weekly winner can decide on format for following weeks game - open to debate though that one.

Otherwise, just a bit of added spice and value to the weekly games we currently enjoy, and give people something else to think about and consider when deciding to push or wait!?!

I would offer to arrange for a plaque/shield to be created where the league winners can be entered onto and keep for the duration of the league they are champion for....obviously this suggested on a trust/honour system that it will be returned to myself/Tony for the next winner to be engraved onto it and handed to subsequent winner?

Thoughts?

Tony2005 June 10th, 2008 14:03

Like the idea Shark.....think it will make our Sunday night games a lot more interesting......i will have a closer look at this later and get back to u with my thoughts......Off for a couple of hours sleep as im wacked after hacking it round the golf course today.......

bennythedip2 June 10th, 2008 16:51

guys i love the Idea but?

Ive decided that I really don't want to play on Ladbrokes anymore (except for the pot limit 7 card cash) It's not their RNG or anything like that, it's just that i need a change...There's an old saying in poker, " If your not enjoying it, then change it" or " For things to change, you have to change"...
I know nearly all the online poker sites have their faults but I'm fed up with the software of Ladbrokes , disconnection's all the time not just me , you look when your playing how many players keep getting disconnected and the last thing you need when your in a pot (holding the nuts) is Laddies server to start playing up...Also this "horse" 'laddiespoker2' promotion has really pissed me off :C
I read a post here (think it was Pkaplaya ) about the value on the horses on 'bet365' (offering starting price if bigger than the price you've taken) also not only do i have an account there but also "betfair" :gh: So why am i staying loyal to a company like Ladbrokes that couldn't give a F~~K.
This is the problem, i've got it into my head now that they are W~~~~R'S so i end up having the hump every time i go there :'D Also if you haven't used your Player points (say 4500) they take them back at the start of a new month..:C F~~~~~G Liberty :scribe:
So i'll play the league but not on that site but please dont let this influence you guys if you want to play Ladbrokes, i wont feel left out..:scribe:

glk benny

Tony2005 June 10th, 2008 18:09

I have to back up everything you said ...Laddies are useless for placing bets, never had anything from them in 5 years. There is much better value to be had shopping around the internet betting sites.
Its all about people not liking change and thats why they still have the customer base they still have.
As for the poker another 4 years without anything from them. I play very little on there now and tbh havnt felt ive missed out on anything.....i only play forum games, the superstars and maybe a couple of others and will continue to pick and choose what i want to play on there..

TheShark72 June 11th, 2008 08:23

So what are we saying here? You're looking for a different site on the same network? Different network altogether?? Or just A N Other site for us all to play the forum games on, leaving our personal choice of tournament/cash games to ourselves?

The main problem you'll find, and one of the advantages of being on Lad's, is that you can very easily create your own personal, private games, setting the table up exactly how you want it off you're own back. Now unless this is network wide, and not just on the Lad's skin, ive not come across this before - I have played on ALOT of poker sites and anytime ive wanted to create/host a private game ive had to go through all kinds of set up chaos, and then you're relying on someone else doing it for you rather than you living and dying by your own actions.

As ive alluded to before, and as Bally has confirmed, I regularly create and host private games online - having done various league systems, MTT's and STT's across various networks and skins. I fully acknowledge what has been said by Benny and Tony - and very much agree - and I can definitely assist in recommending various sites unless someone has specific expectations out of what is needed.

In terms of our league, im happy to go with the flow - whichever site. Lads is not my site of choice, but playing you guys definitely is, as i love the standard of play and banter element - as Bally knows, these are my main objectives out of a game of poker!

Tony2005 June 11th, 2008 10:35

Hi Mark....no were quite happy to continue playing the forum games on LADDIES....its much easier as you say to set up etc...and most of us have accounts there anyway...I think Benny was refering to his own choices for other games he plays...but im sure he would make an exception for the forum games as without him playing it wouldnt be the same...

themanwiththeknow June 11th, 2008 10:51

i was actually thinking.......

......of starting up a poker league

12 players enter to it, where they play 1 6 seater game of poker each week

so each player plays a total of 11 6 seater poker games, playing a combination of each player once

points would be awarded for finishing posistion

6th= 0pts, 5th= 1pt, 4th= 3pts, 3rd= 5pts, 2nd= 7pts, 1st= 10pts

at the end of the 11 weeks the top 6 players will play in a final table game with a prizepool of $1000, the prize structure would be......

6th....$25, 5th....$50, 4th....$100, 3rd....$150, 2nd....$250, 1st....$425

the prizepool would be paid by me,

this is in the early stages of thought process, it would depend on if i could get 11 players who were commited to play the 11 games every week

i wouldnt be looking to start it until july/august

i am currently in the process of negotiating a sponsorship deal with badbeat

if i et the deal i am looking for then paying the $1000 prizepool myself wouldnt be a problem

i am currently sponsored by badbeat at the moment, and i make them good money on the cash tables, if things go as planned with the new deal, then i will be looking to start this poker league for myself and another 11 solid good poker players who are committed to play for the 1 weeks, 12 if you make the final 6

anyone interested in this idea??

TheShark72 June 11th, 2008 11:01

Themanwiththeknow...

Yes, id be very interested in this.

TheShark72 June 12th, 2008 08:54

So what are we thinking then about getting the forum league up and running???

Yay or Nay?

Tony2005 June 12th, 2008 09:06

Its a definate.........YAY

I will put a post up later with the start date and also the scoring system

Hopefully we will get a good turnout.

Also i think we keep the games..

$5 entry

2 x $5 rebuys

1 x $5 add on

Also im sure if this is popular we can then move it onto the idea Manintheknow has come up with.....

TheShark72 June 12th, 2008 09:11

Excellent...

Well I will get to work on formatting a league table and points collator for the weekly results as they come in, and have a hunt around for a nice shield that the league winner(s) can win should they prevail. Would be good to see a history of names who have won the league....I wonder who will be the first Talksport Forum Poker League winner....

Who's gonna do the odds!!!!:loveme:

Part-Timer June 12th, 2008 09:30

If it was Corals it would be 6/4 the field bar none

joejim June 12th, 2008 13:21

first time

since i met you part timer, that you have talked absolute rubbish....i would be 1/9 and the field 3/1 and greater....so behave..ok o:D

bennythedip2 June 12th, 2008 18:04

Yes i'm in :scribe:...and you Jim o:D
