Default It's beginning to look like 'Ella'

Steve McClaren is shortening again to become Newcastle's next manager.

The former England boss, currently in charge of Sky Bet Championship high-fliers Derby, is a clear favourite with most firms.

However, the Betfair Sportsbook are prepared to take him on and offer 11/2 - Ladbrokes are in at 11/8.

Remi Garde is their 4/1 jolly although bet365 will give you 8/1 about the former Lyon chief.

It has been reported the pair are high on a club shortlist.

The market would suggest Tim Sherwood is not going to land the post - the former Spurs manager has drifted to 12/1 (general) today. That's the same price as Glenn Hoddle, while former Newcastle star Temuri Ketsbaia and Real Madrid coach Paul Clement are both into 14/1.

The Magpies are currently whittling down candidates as they look to replace Alan Pardew who quit the club to join Crystal palace at the weekend.
